Below we answer some of your most commonly asked questions surrounding private ambulance transfers:

What is the cost of a private ambulance transfer?

Each quotation is specific to each and every individual. Things like location/distance, medical care required, and the time and mileage needed to complete the transfer will all contribute to calculating a quotation. Please contact us for a guaranteed price.

Who can use private ambulance transfer services?

Our services are ideal for individuals who need additional support during transport, including those with mobility issues, chronic illnesses or post-surgery recovery. It's also suitable for those who prefer a private and comfortable journey.

Which areas do you cover?

We cover Northern Ireland, Ireland, England, Scotland and Wales.

Can family members accompany the patient?

Yes, a family member can accompany a patient. We provide two qualified ambulance personnel that put the patient and their needs first. This ensures that they are cared for throughout the entire journey. We understand however that in certain circumstances family may want to travel with a vulnerable loved one.  At the time of booking, we will need to be made aware that someone will be travelling with the patient and if they have any special requirements.

How quickly can you arrange transport?

As with anything, the more notice we are given the more likely we will be to have a slot in our schedules. That said, we will always try to accommodate short-notice transport requests if we have a crew and a vehicle available.

My loved one is upstairs in bed and is not able to walk downstairs. How will you get them?

Our staff are trained in the moving and handling of people and regularly transfer patients from upper floors usually with the aid of a carry chair. All moves are risk assessed and if more than one crew is needed then we arrange accordingly.

What medical equipment is available in the ambulances?

Our ambulances are equipped with advanced medical equipment, including oxygen supplies, defibrillators, and patient monitoring systems. We also carry specialised equipment based on the patient’s specific medical requirements.

Are the paramedics trained to handle emergencies during transport?

Yes, all our paramedics are registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and are trained to handle emergencies and provide advanced life support if needed. As part of their HCPC registration, Paramedics need to fulfil Continual Professional Development to ensure their skill sets remain up to date and in line with the latest medical practices

Can you take personal belonging and luggage with you, such as a walking frame or wheelchair?

Yes, we are happy to cater for reasonable levels of personal belongings to travel in the ambulance. If possible, please inform the staff at the time of booking in case any special considerations need to be taken in to account.

If we are using your services to transport a loved one to a wedding, will you stay for the duration?

Yes, we act not only as a transport facility, but will remain with your loved one for the duration of the booking. If requested, we will allow staff to wear appropriate dress code e.g. at a wedding it may be more appropriate for our personnel to wear suits/other appropriate attire. Our aim is to tailor our service appropriate to customer needs yet adhering to all Infection Prevention and Control and other clinical measures.

My loved one has mobility challenges and lives with dementia, so moving away from home will be especially nerve-wracking. How will you ensure that they are not unduly distraught by the whole process?

Everyone reacts to change and new environments in a different way, depending not just on their personal nature but also upon any illness or disability with which they may be living. Our job is to listen, to reassure and to encourage your loved one, so that they feel relaxed and confident in our ability to help them.

We are patient, we will always seek their consent, we will make sure they are warm and comfortable at all times, and we will treat them with dignity and respect.

Can you arrange with the hospitals the pickup times and discharge date?

Yes, we work closely with all Health Trusts and private hospitals, as well as care homes, to ensure everything runs as smoothly as possible.
